SIZZIX BEING DISCONTINUED???
Posted on 15. Mar, 2007 by scrapbook blogger in Sizzix
There have been rumors that Sizzix is on it’s way out. However, there has been a buyout of the company (from what I’ve heard), or they bought out a company….or something like that….but there has been some sort of restructuring anyway which I see as a positive sign they may stick around. However, my concern is that stores may no longer carry the Sizzix items. I talked to someone at www.creativexpress.com, and she told me that this company will only carry Sizzix items through September. Hobby Lobby, a massive craft store in the Midwest no longer carries Sizzix now. These stores are stocking newer items like the Cricut in the place of Sizzix. I own Sizzix and Cricut and find that I like them both for different reasons and uses. However, I am taking the “get it while you can” approach to Sizzix items. I have noticed huge clearances on these products and am taking advantage of the sales just in case it is the last of Sizzix.

I searched on the Creative Express site and it no longer lists the Sizzix machine. Are they no longer selling them? Has anyone found it anywhere else?

Creative Xpress still has the Sizzix machine currently selling for $25.99 and many other Sizzix items. See it here: http://www.creativexpress.com/shop/product.php?productid=9345
All of our Sizzix line is on clearance sale.

I can’t find it either. Looks like it may have sold out. I know JoAnn’s sells them though. Also, I would check ebay.

Provo Craft developed Sizzix and all that went with it. I was there, I know this. They had it in the warehouse and were the distributors. Then they partnered with Ellison (after initial development) to do some advertising & such. It was a very sticky relationship to say the least. Provo Craft decided not to produce Sizzix anymore & to shift it completely over to Ellison (don’t have details of the “transfer”, but these are two totally separate companies–one does not own the other). Provo Craft did this in part because of the Cuttlebug, which they believe is a better product in general. Ellison has “customized” their Sizzix products a bit & produces other machines & dyes that are related.

Sixxiz and Stampin’ Up! are working together. Together, they have some nice products.
